HOLY
GHOST
The
group shelter has been reserved and pre-paid. We are asking
hunters to pitch in $15 to cover the weekend camping
and shelter
fees. Set at 8,400 feet, Holy Ghost is a scenic campground
in the Pecos Wilderness that lies in a meadow surrounded
by wilderness. The area is full of spring turkeys and offers
great
fishing for rainbow trout. The camping area has trailhead
access, picnic tables, fire rings, toilets, drinking water
and the
group shelter. RVs with a maximum length or 32 feet can
access the campground. Depending on the size of the group,
hunt
teams will be sent to surrounding hot spots for recent
turkey activity.
For more information on the campground, visit the Santa
Fe National Forest, Pecos Ranger District webiste at www.fs.fed.us/r3/sfe/recreation/districts/pecos/camping/holyghost_group.html.
The
hunt was moved from the Black Lake area to accommodate a
larger hunt party and to improve vehicle accessibility.
